It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

I cannot believe that it is December 1st tomorrow!  I have been feeling ready for the festive period for weeks now and as of tomorrow I can go into full festive mode!

There are so many fun things to do during December to make sure you stay jolly right up until Christmas Day.  Here are a few of my favourite things about the most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas markets.  The Christmas market in Edinburgh is by far the best one near me.  It is so much fun and gets you right into the Christmas spirit!  Plus the cold is a great excuse to drink some sort of warm, mulled alcohol.  I can't wait to go later on in the week!

Christmas jumpers!  I love them.  I purchased a fetching one complete with lights at the weekend all ready for a garish Christmas jumper day with friends in a few weeks time!

Christmas movies.  There are so many great Xmas films - Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually, The Holiday (I love a bit of Jack Black) and of course It's A Wonderful Life. Christmas isn't Christmas without a bit of George Bailey!  I will be spending Christmas Eve watching this with my family at Glasgow Film Theatre.

Eating, drinking and being merry!  Lets face it, many people use December to completely overindulge.  With so many nights out, Christmas dinner itself, and the weird limbo week between Christmas and New Year when it is totally acceptable (as far as I'm concerned) to eat chocolate for breakfast you can't really avoid it.  A calorie laden hot chocolate (or three) always goes down well with me at this time of year.  I'm talking mini marshmallows, skooshy cream and a candy cane.  Perfect to snuggle up on the sofa with while watching Crimbo movies!

Spending time with family and family traditions.  I have a big family and I love it when we all get together over the holidays.  My (much) younger brother and sister also help keep some of the magic of Christmas alive, their excitement is pretty infectious!

What are your favourite things about Christmas?
