It was a very good year...

2013 has been one hell of a year!  I decided that during this year I was really going to make a conscious effort to push myself a bit, to venture outside my comfort zone.  I am a pretty shy person so the thought of this was pretty daunting!

After talking to my boyfriend about it for ages I took the leap in April and set up an account on Blogger, Frocks and Fairycakes was born.  I have a lot of fun writing my blog and I am looking forward to continuing it in 2014.  My blog has introduced me to some lovely new people and built my confidence.

In May after having been back at my Mum's for almost two years the boy and I saw a lovely flat online.  Even though we were not really looking we decided to go and have a look.  I fell in love almost instantly, it had a dressing room - need I say more?!  Then began the most stressful time ever!  I really did not expect the process of buying somewhere to be so hard (naive I know), it was all worth it in the end.  We got our keys on 11th July and with the help of my wee brother and our friend we moved our stuff in on one of the hottest days of the year.

The place felt like home so quickly.  During 2014 we will get around to decorating and putting our own stamp on the place.

I was lucky enough to be asked to attend FABB Glasgow in October, it was my first blogger event.  I was really nervous about it as I did not know any other bloggers that were going to be there.  Luckily everyone was in the same boat and I met some really nice people that I have since attended other events with.  It has been really nice meeting people with similar interests to me.

In November I went down to London with my boy and our friends, it seems to be an annual occurrence now.  For the last 3 years I have taken a trip down, I absolutely love London, the atmosphere and the shops!  Getting to go at Christmas time was pretty good, London really knows how to do Christmas!  We went to see Yellowcard play in Union Chapel, it was an amazing gig.  As it was in a church there was no alcohol served so we watched them while eating Tunnocks tea cakes and drinking cups of tea!  We also went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it was brilliantly done.  I am already planning my trip for 2014!

December has been without a doubt my favourite month this year.  I have been waiting all year for my two week holiday from work and I was really excited about being off over Christmas.  Best of all we had a trip to Germany booked, spending two days with our friends in Aachen and then moving onto Cologne.  We ate and drank a lot!  Our trip will always be memorable because my awesome boy asked me to marry him!

So it seems that 2014 may be busier than this year!

I am looking forward to everything that 2014 will bring, I am not one for new years resolutions, they just get broken.  I do however have some goals for next year:
- Blog more often
- Cook more and experiment with new recipes
- Learn how to make really good cheese sauce
- Go to the gym more regularly and run at least one 10k and aim for the Glasgow half marathon
- Plan an amazing wedding!

I hope everyone has a brilliant night tonight whatever your Hogmanay plans are.
